Frommer's Review
This is a great find -- and one that very few people outside the Toronto university community know about. You enter the center from the University College quad, an Oxford-style cloistered garden that itself is a work of art. Inside, you'll find a gallery housing the Malcove Collection, which consists mainly of Byzantine art dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries. There are early stone reliefs and numerous icons from different periods. One of the Malcove's gems was painted by a German master in 1538: Lucas Cranach the Elder's Adam and Eve. The rest of the Art Centre is devoted to temporary exhibitions, which may display University College's collection of Canadian art, or other special exhibits.
