Frommer's Review
The Riv is better known as a club than a restaurant -- the back room plays host to live music, stand-up comics, and poetry readings. What most people don't know is that the kitchen is just as creative. Chicken marinated in jerk spices comes with sautéed spinach and plantain chips; mussels are steamed in green curry jazzed up with coconut and lime. The less adventurous can partake of the spinach-and-pear salad or the house burger. The low prices draw a mixed crowd of starving artists, budget-conscious boomers, and Gen-Xers. Caveat: If you're planning to talk over dinner, get there before the back room starts filling up.
