Courtyard Toronto Downtown ReviewMost Courtyard-brand properties in the Marriott chain are usually out of the city center. This one near Yonge and College streets is an exception, convenient to get around on foot and on the subway line. The lobby, with its double-sided fireplace, has a surprisingly intimate feel, given the size of the 575-room hotel. Tour groups, which often book here, have a separate reception area. The guest rooms aren't big, but they are comfortable, with smart features such as windows that open and additional sinks outside the bathrooms. Ongoing refurbishments keep guest rooms looking fresh, rather than lived in. While Courtyards are generally regarded as business hotels, this one has family-friendly facilities, such as a children's wading pool. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
