Frommer's Review
While not a budget hotel, the Delta Chelsea offers bang for the buck. Its downtown location draws heaps of tour groups and a smattering of business travelers, its family-friendly facilities lure those with tykes, and its weekend packages pull in the cost conscious. It's impossible for a hotel to be all things to all people, but the Delta Chelsea comes pretty close. Luxury seekers should look elsewhere, and backpackers won't be able to afford it, but the Delta Chelsea is talented at meeting the needs of many of those in between. This is a particularly good bet for young families.
The Delta Chelsea makes the most of its generous size, with features like the Corkscrew, a four-story indoor waterslide. What 8-year-old could resist? The hotel has got some grown-up amenities, too, such as the Bb33 Bistro and Brasserie, a two-in-one restaurant with a formal dining room and a fuss-free buffet room. There's also Deck 27, a lounge with a fantastic panoramic view of Toronto.
The guest rooms are bright and cheery; a few have kitchenettes, which is always a plus for family travel. On the Signature Club floor for business travelers, rooms have cordless speakerphones, faxes, well-stocked desks, and ergonomic chairs.
One special feature of the Delta Chelsea is its entertainment department. The hotel has partnerships with CanStage, Soulpepper, the CN Tower, and Paramount Canada's Wonderland, to mention a few. Guests enjoy access to tickets for everything from blockbuster shows to special events (some tickets may be included in the price of a weekend package).
