Hôtel Le Germain ReviewThis Quebec-based company adds a continental touch that blends effortlessly with an edgy elegance. Elevators are "wrapped" in words of English and French poetry. The library lounge has a fireplace, a wall of objets d'art, and cozy white couches. The breakfast room on the second floor is like an expansive landing, and the tables are communal. The guest rooms are beautifully designed, the ceilings are high, and the linens and robes are by Frette. A peek-a-boo glass wall in the bathroom shower is a seductive touch (a blind can be lowered) and also makes everything feel more spacious. The exercise room on the 11th floor has floor-to-ceiling windows and an open-air terrace. Rooms on the north side are not as quiet, as they face a noisy strip of King Street restaurants and bars. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
