Frommer's Review
This hotel occupies the historic premises of a 300-year-old sugar refinery. It is a far less expensive alternative to the Sugar Mill Hotel, although it doesn't have the cuisine or the facilities of that more famed property. Still, it puts you right on the beach. It's set inland from Cane Garden Bay, and has the best musical venue on Tortola -- a rustic indoor/outdoor bar called Quito's Gazebo. The rooms are cramped but cozy; many have water views, some with balconies. The bathrooms are all a bit too small. The most romantic unit is the large honeymoon suite in the tower. On the premises is a boutique-style art gallery showing watercolors by local artists and selling souvenirs.
The in-house bar is a magnet for fans of modern calypso music, largely because it's supervised by the hotel owner Quito (Enriquito) Rymer, who's the most famous recording star ever on Tortola. Quito himself performs Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
