Frommer's Review
The Continental is a large, modernized hotel 3 blocks from the train station at the city walls, a 10-minute walk from the central piazza. The modular furnishings are slightly worn but kept in good condition, the beds are firm, and there are parquet floors and some nice old touches such as ornate wood entablatures, chandeliers, or mirrored closet doors silk-screened with Oriental prints. A few rooms have small vestibule sitting areas, and corner units are larger and tend to be more nicely furnished. There is, however, a bit of street noise from the busy road below, and while some bathrooms are new, others are aging, and many have shower nozzles you have to hold and no shower curtains. By 2004 a restructuring should add a business center and nine suites on an executive level.
