Attractions

Main Street was once part of the Mountain Route of the Santa Fe Trail, and many of the streets that cross it are paved with locally made redbrick. The Trinidad Historical Society distributes a booklet titled A Walk Through the History of Trinidad, available at local shops and museums. Among the buildings it singles out for special attention are the Trinidad Opera House (1883) and Columbian Hotel (1879), which are across from each other on Main Street, as well as the Trinidad Water Works (1879), on Cedar Street at the Purgatoire River.
