Hugging the eastern bank of the Touques River is Deauville’s less fashionable—but no less fascinating—neighbor Trouville. Deauville might have the chic boutiques, but Trouville has the soul of a working fishing port. Cross the Touques at the Pont des Belges and you immediately see the change in atmosphere. The large fish market, Marché aux Poissons, is a hive of activity and teems with small cafes selling the freshest seafood. More restaurants line the quayside, which becomes even livelier every Wednesday and Sunday when the open-air food market sets up its stalls.
