Parador de Tui

Advance reservations are essential if you want to stay in this elegant, fortress-style hacienda four streets north of the Miño River crossing. Built in 1968, the inn was designed to blend with the architectural spirit of the province, emphasizing local stone and natural woods. Brass chandeliers, paintings by well-known Gallegos, and antiques combined with reproductions furnish the public rooms. In the main living room are a large inglenook fireplace, a tall banjo-shaped grandfather clock, hand-knotted rugs, hand-hewn benches, and comfortable armchairs. The midsize guest rooms are sober in style, but are comfortable and offer views across a colonnaded courtyard to the river and hills. They are furnished with Castilian-style pieces.
