This casually upscale, contemporary Western-style lodge plays up the rustic side of the Catskills -- in contrast to its sister property, the Emerson Resort & Spa. It features log-cabin beams and plaid woolen blankets, and many rooms have fireplaces and private decks overlooking the Esopus trout stream; you can almost fish off your balcony. Rooms are large and handsome, perfect for families and people who just want to kick back in jeans and Tevas. For families, the lodge is very convenient; it's next door to a complex of shops and a massive, kid-friendly kaleidoscope and within minutes of biking, hiking, skiing, and plenty more outdoor activities.
