Planning a TripVisitor Information -- Umag's tourist information office is at JB Tita 3/2 (tel. 052/741-363; fax 052/741-649; www.istra.com/umag). They can give you brochures and maps as well as information on sports opportunities and excursions. Nearly two dozen tourist agencies broker thousands of privately owned rooms and apartments in Umag. Umag Renters' Association publishes an exhaustive catalog detailing them. Sol Melia, which manages many of Umag's big hotels and camping services, pumped a significant amount of money into its campgrounds in 2005. Brochures listing facilities and prices for both these types of accommodations are available at the tourist information office in town. Getting Around -- Most of Umag's tourist activity is at the waterfront or in Old Town. If you are staying at one of the big hotels on the outskirts or if you want to access the Stella Maris Sports Complex, you probably will have to take one of the city buses or drive. Airport transfers to the Kempinski Adriatic can be via air, land, or sea. The Adriatic has its own heliport and it has built access roads through vineyards to the hotel from the main road. While there is no marina as yet, it is possible for boats to dock nearby.
