Frommer's Review
Close to Urubamba, just off the main road, is this charming and rustic hotel inhabiting parts of a 16th-century Franciscan monastery. The parts of the hotel that have been renovated are of a level to compete with many of the nicest properties in the Sacred Valley; the hotel's full restoration, though, has proceeded slowly, and still-to-be renovated rooms aren't in the same class. The remodeled rooms have outstanding views and remains of original Inca walls, and they greatly surpass the original, far simpler rooms. Services are still somewhat limited compared to other top-end hotels in the region, however. Climb up to the bell tower above the old chapel for great views of the valley. A nearby sister property, Hotel Urubamba (tel. 084/201-444) is similar, and priced exactly the same, though it's somewhat less inviting.
