Planning a TripGetting There -- Utrecht is pretty much at the center of the Dutch rail net, and trains arrive at Utrecht Centraal station every 15 minutes or so from Amsterdam, and about as frequently from many other places around the country. The ride from Amsterdam takes 27 minutes, and a 1-day round-trip ticket costs 12€ ($19). By car, take A2/E35 southeast from Amsterdam. Visitor Information -- VVV Utrecht is at Domplein 9, 3512 JC Utrecht (tel. 0900/128-8732; www.utrechtyourway.nl), in the center of town. The office is open Monday from noon to 6pm, Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm (Thurs to 9pm), Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from noon to 2pm. Special Events -- Every year, at the end of August and the start of September, concert halls, churches, and other Utrecht venues are filled with the sounds of Renaissance and baroque music during the Holland Festival of Early Music Utrecht (tel. 030/232-9000; www.oudemuziek.nl), an international event that attracts the world's top performers.
