Frommer's Review
This 14th-century Amorosa farming estate has been preserved as a hotel complex with a luxury-class restaurant. A cypress-lined lane leads to the large central piazza bounded by double loggiaed brick buildings and a tiny chapel with a well at the center -- all immaculately maintained and feeling a bit like a posh Spanish hacienda. The accommodations are comfortably fitted with a mélange of period pieces under beamed ceilings, and the suites have working fireplaces -- there's even a two-story deluxe suite on the back with gorgeous vistas over the vineyards. The rooms were an afterthought to the restaurant. When it opened in former cattle stalls in the 1970s, the idea was to bring the products of the farm directly to the public in refined Tuscan cuisine. The chef excels at fish dishes (rare this far inland) as well as homemade pastas and beef, but be warned: A full meal can cost well over 60€ ($78). There's also a (relatively) cheaper enoteca where you can sample a full range of wines from Siena province accompanied by regional dishes.
Facilities:
Excellent refined restaurant and simpler taverna; outdoor pool (June-Sept); bike rental; concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; limited room service; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; Internet terminal w/printer
