Microbreweries have sprung up on the fringe of town to refresh the German brewing tradition; among them are Calle Calle, on Llanquahue s/n, 3km (2 miles) on the route to Osorno (tel. 63/226925); and J. Bello, 8km (5 miles) on the route to Niebla (tel. 63/246751). The most famous is Kunstmann.
