Frommer's Review
In this region where spas have been around for ages -- literally -- El Santuario is the newest of the spa resorts to emerge. Set on the shores of Valle de Bravo's lake, and at the foot of an "energy-conducting" quartz mountain, this spa resort combines soothing natural surroundings with modern amenities, recreational activities, and spa services. Throughout the resort, natural elements such as slate, quartz, river stones, bamboo, and shells are used in the decor details. The guest suites are all built into the mountainside, with panoramic views of the lake. Each also comes with an indoor, infinity-edge plunge pool and sitting area. The 1,860 sq. m (20,020-sq.-ft.) spa offers over 60 therapies in a variety of treatment rooms, including a flotation suite, as well as a cafe, oxygen bar, salon, gym, and studio for yoga, Pilates, meditation, and other mind-body activities. Their signature therapy is the Yenecamú -- 2 1/2 hours of treatments performed on a pontoon boat in the middle of the lake. If you grow tired of being pampered, there's also golf, hiking, water sports on the lake, and other eco-oriented activities to while away the time.
