Le Filou de Montpellier Review

If the fashion for all things fusion is starting to wear a little thin then head to Le Filou, a bastion of French gastronomic ingenuity. A local favorite and one of the first restaurants on Cerro Concepción, Le Filou started out serving a Saturday lunch special that grew so popular the chef had no choice but to open his bistro full time. The dining room is cozy, charming and buzzes with chatter, a reflection of the gregarious spirit of the charming French owner who may even be your waiter for lunch. The ideal way to sample the chef's bistro classics is to relax over one of the inexpensive fixed-price lunches, which change daily but always feature well-executed, simple, and truly authentic Gaelic delicacies; try an appetizer of Parma ham with couscous followed by melt-in-your-mouth medallions of beef tenderloin in a Port wine sauce and a gooey chocolate crepe for dessert. Dinner is served only on Fridays and Saturdays. There is another venue on Almirante Montt 51, which is more of a cafeteria serving wholesome snacks, quiche, salads, and fresh juices.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
