Reminiscent of a more genteel era, this green clapboard clubhouse from 1929 is surrounded by green lawns and ancient cedar trees, and looks out over English Bay (in the summer, try for a table on the veranda). Inside, you'll find a warm, comfortable atmosphere and wonderfully friendly service. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, Sunday brunch, or a memorable lunch or dinner of fresh B.C. oysters and shellfish, fresh seasonal fish, and signature dishes such as maple-glazed salmon, flaming prawns (done at your table with ouzo), and a seafood cornucopia. The wine list is admirable; the desserts sumptuous. Guests have been enjoying chef Karen Barnaby's cooking since 1993; in addition to her signature standbys, she often creates special theme menus and offers a reasonably priced three-course set dinner menu every month.
