Frommer's Review
The success of this French dining experiment in the heart of Kitsilano has turned chef Rob Feenie into a star. His preparation and presentation are immaculately French, while ingredients are resolutely local, making for interesting surprises -- fresh local ginger with the veal, or raspberries in the foie gras. Lumière's tasting menus are a series of delightful plates that change with the season, perfectly matched to a local wine (not included in the fixed price) and gorgeously presented. Diners can choose from three different menus: the signature tasting menu, a meat-and-seafood Chef's menu, or a vegetarian menu. At the adjoining Lumière Tasting Bar, patrons can sample smaller dishes for $14 (US$12/£6) a plate, or enjoy an inventive cocktail at the sophisticated bar. The intrepid Feenie is also the force behind the more casual Feenie's, right next door.
