Nu means "naked" in French, but it's not clear how that applies to this stylish new Yaletown hot spot. The same can be said for the 1970s airport lounge decor. You're never quite sure if you're in a lounge or a dining room; Nu is both, obviously. But if the weather's nice, go out to the patio overlooking False Creek, because that's much more comfortable, and it's a great spot to enjoy a good lunch or a glass of wine and a snack, such as fresh oysters or pommes frites with mayo or foie gras gravy. More substantial fare includes flatiron steak, seared salmon, or caramelized lamb shanks. C is just steps away, and a better choice for a splurge dinner with a view; the same team runs both.
