How nice to discover a top-notch restaurant with fine food and great service at reasonable prices. Others obviously feel the same way, for in 2006, Aurora was chosen as one of Vancouver's top five restaurants by Vancouver magazine. Aurora opened in 2003 with a "back-to-the-basics" philosophy, allowing ingredients to speak for themselves rather than masking them with complicated sauces or combining too many tastes. You might want to start with a country-style pork pâté or blue cheese tart, and then try sweet potato gnocchi or root beer-braised bison short ribs. What you find on the menu will be seasonal and sustainable. All wines are from B.C. A pleasant, lower-key experience in Vancouver's overheated restaurant scene.
