Frommer's Review
Built in 1984 and centrally situated between the financial district and downtown shopping areas (Robson Square is a block away), the Metropolitan is geared toward business travelers and leisure travelers who want traditional luxury and full service. Guest rooms feature large, marble-tiled bathrooms with separate tub and shower, and wonderfully comfortable beds with Frette Italian linens. Over half of the rooms were refurbished in 2007 with new carpeting and furniture to add a splash of color to an otherwise muted color scheme; all units should be completed by 2008. Many units in the 18-story hotel have small balconies, but the views are not the hotel's selling point as the building is dwarfed by the Four Seasons across the street. Guests have use of a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, plus sauna and steam rooms. The hotel's restaurant, Diva at the Met, is regarded as one of Vancouver's top restaurants.
