Pacific Palisades Hotel

It's hard not to like this place. Sherbet yellows and apple greens, pastel-colored fabrics, bright splashes of color, and whimsical touches make the hotel bright and welcoming (although the rock music playing in the lobby can be upbeat or annoying, depending on your mood), and the "green" policies are probably the most comprehensive in Vancouver. The rooms feature low-flow water valves, energy-efficient light bulbs, and the hotel as a whole uses eco-conscious cleaning products and has its own carbon-offset initiative. Guest rooms are spacious, airy, and equipped with kitchenettes (with minibar items priced at corner-store prices). The one-bedroom suites include large living/dining rooms and balconies. Other perks include the complimentary afternoon wine tasting in the attached art gallery, the large indoor pool and fitness rooms, and the fact that pets stay free. Zin is a cool spot for a drink and dinner.
