Just a couple of blocks from English Bay on the edge of the residential West End, the Sunset Inn offers roomy accommodations for a reasonable price. Units are either studios or one-bedroom apartments, and come with fully equipped kitchens and dining areas. Like many other hotels in this part of town, the Sunset Inn started life as an apartment building, meaning the rooms are larger than at your average hotel, and all have balconies. The view gets better on the higher floors, but the price remains the same, so book early and request an upper floor. For those traveling with children, the one-bedroom suites have a separate bedroom and a pullout couch in the living room. Most of the rooms have recently been redone to look upscale, but the finishes are faux and the furniture is oddly unyielding. Still, the beds are comfy, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the location is great for this price.
