Frommer's Review
Situated downtown, across from the Orpheum Theatre and close to the clubs in the Granville Street entertainment district, the Moda offers lots of style and excellent value. The hotel, located in a 1908 heritage building, reopened its doors in 2007 after receiving a major makeover from Vancouver's acclaimed interior designer Alda Pereira. Rooms and suites feature a sleek, tailored, European look with dramatic colors, luxury beds and linens, flatscreen televisions, nice tiled bathrooms with a tub/shower, and double-glazed windows to dampen the traffic noise from Granville. The only thing the refurbers couldn't change was the slant in some of the old floors. For years, this hotel was called The Dufferin and catered to a mostly gay clientele; it's still gay-friendly, but anyone with a bit of adventure and a taste for something out of the ordinary will enjoy a stay here. Suites offer an extra half-bathroom, corner locations with more light, and upgraded amenities.
