If you like Swedish country-house living, a beautifully landscaped setting, and gracious comfort, this is the best choice in the area. We're not alone in thinking this -- Nicole Kidman chose it for a 2-month stay while shooting Dogville. The much-renovated 18th-century manor house is sheathed with yellow clapboards and a red roof, and lies within its own park, with window views that sweep out over the surrounding forest and the low hills of those majestic plateaus of Halleberg and Hunneberg. Bedrooms are outfitted with pastel colors and furniture that's more contemporary than what you'll find within the main house. There are also a bar and a cozy restaurant where, amid 19th-century Swedish antiques, you can sample excellently prepared dinner specialties such as platters of Swedish herring, Swedish caviar, venison with Swedish chanterelles, and a roster of dessert parfaits.
