Palladio Hotel & Spa ReviewFrancesca Bortolotto Possati, owner of the Hotel Bauer/Bauer il Palazzo, opened the Palladio Hotel & Spa in 2006 almost adjacent to the Cipriani, giving the venerable hotel some competition. Venice can seem a long way off from here as you immerse yourself in what seems to be another world, but with a solar-powered shuttle boat (free for clients of any of the three Bauer hotels) continually running back and forth between the Hotel Bauer and the Palladio, you are just minutes away from San Marco. There are few other places in Venice -- the only one that comes to mind is the Cipriani next door -- where you can relax as completely as you can here and yet quickly be in the midst of it all. The hotel is located in what was a crumbling 16th-century convent designed by Palladio. All rooms are spacious; the rooms with the garden views are relaxing, but as long as you are splurging, you may want to opt for a lagoon-view room, where you will be afforded stunning views of the bell tower in Piazza San Marco. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
