Frommer's Review
The exterior of this weather-worn palazzo belies its 1995 renovation, which left hand-hewn ceiling beams exposed, air-conditioned rooms outfitted with antique-style headboard/spread sets, and bathrooms modernized and brightly retiled. The enthusiastic, young, English-speaking owners, Maria Teresa and Leonardo Pepoli, offer three-star style at one-star rates (prices get even better in the off season). The recently renovated dépendance (annex), 3 blocks away, offers you the chance to feel as if you've rented an aristocratic apartment, with parquet floors and Murano chandeliers -- room no. 5 is on a corner with a beam ceiling and fireplace, no. 6 (a family-perfect two-room suite) looks out on the confluence of two canals, and no. 2 overlooks the lovely garden of a palazzo next door. The Pepolis also opened yet another annex nearby consisting of just four rooms, all done in a Venetian style, including one large family suite (two guest rooms, one of which can sleep four, sharing a common bathroom).
