A recent overhaul of one of Venice's venerable Grand Canal bastions put it back among the city's top hotels. Hidden down a tiny side alley just 2 minutes from Piazza San Marco, this hotel's Tiepolo and Regina wings sport eclectic early-20th-century European furnishings and modern fabrics. The Europa wing is decorated in traditional Venetian style. There's a cozy bar with tables right on the Grand Canal; elegant, airy salons; and professional service. The restaurant is excellent. Room rates vary greatly with season and view (Canale Grande rooms are priciest). As with any Westin hotel, the best rates are found on their website.
