Hotel Falier Review

Owned by the same fellow who put the lovely Hotel American Dinesen on Venice's map of moderately priced lodgings, the Falier is his savvy interpretation of less expensive accommodations, particularly worth booking when half-price low-season rates apply. It is a reliable value at this price range, with standard-size rooms (and modern bathrooms) attractively decorated with white lace curtains and flowered bedspreads; some even have wood-beam ceilings. The old-world lobby has potted ferns, Doric columns, and triangle-marble floors. Detractors may feel the need to be closer to Piazza San Marco, when, in truth, the Falier is much closer to the real Venice. It is situated in a lively area lined with stores and bars between the large Campo Santa Margherita, one of the city's most character-filled piazzas, and the much-visited Frari Church.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
