Though opened only in 1999 by the Vantini brothers and their two friends, this taverna already feels as though it's been a popular neighborhood osteria for decades, likely because all of the antique furniture was recouped from older taverns in the area. The small wooden tables are packed in tightly to seat the locals (the whole fire squad stopped in one time I visited) who come for huge portions of Veronese cuisine. To go with their 180 labels in the wine cellar, try bigoli al torchio with shredded duck, coniglio alla veronese con pesto (rabbit served in a crushed-basil-and-garlic pesto), or pastise de' caval con polenta (horse goulash with polenta).
