Locanda Catullo Review

It's a three-floor hike to this homey pensione-like place that has been run by the affable Pollini family for more than 30 years, and it seems that nothing ever changes -- from the prices to the decor. However, it's centrally located and the rooms are spacious and clean, the bathrooms nice and bright. The prices attract the 20- and 30-something euro-counters who make up the majority of the hotel's clientele. With impressive details such as decorative plaster molding, French doors, and marble or parquet floors, the superfluous tapestries and dried flower arrangements become almost too much. Single rooms are large and come equipped with a sink; solo travelers feel comfortable in the prevailing family atmosphere. There's no breakfast service available, but the bar downstairs couldn't be more convenient.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
