Miramar Sheraton Review

Glittering in white-and-glass minimalism, Viña's newest world-class hotel flung open its doors with grand fanfare in 2006, promising luxury, sweeping ocean views, a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center, and an endless range of high-end services. On paper, it certainly delivers. The Sheraton's guest rooms are gorgeous and plush, seductively enticing you to linger in the room longer than you normally would at any given hotel. Every detail, from the silky cotton sheets to the pricey, stylish furniture, is impeccable. All guest rooms come with ocean views, with small terraces. (Book a corner room facing Valparaíso for additional privacy.) The Sheraton's downfall resides in its aloof aura and echoing interiors. Though a little more warmth has been creeping into the design, the Sheraton still lacks the personalized service of its world-class peers. The hotel's location, immediately across from Viña's famous flower clock, a 10-minute walk to beachfront restaurants, is also not quite as central as it could be. If you're a spa lover or are seeking pool time, this is your place, however.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; bar; indoor and outdoor pools; state-of-the-art health club and spa; concierge; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; laundry service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
