Frommer's Review
If you've been to any of the Japanese steakhouse chains (teppanyakis), you know the drill: Diners sit around large grill tables while white-hatted chefs rapidly dice, slice, stir-fry, and occasionally launch a morsel or two onto your plate with amazing skill. Unfortunately, the culinary acrobatics here are better than the cuisine, which is average. Expect entrees to have chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops, lobster, or a combination. Miso soup, a small salad with ginger dressing, stir-fried veggies, and white rice accompany every meal, though you should opt for the fried rice -- it's a much better choice -- even if it does cost extra. Like Tempura Kiku , Kirin beer, plum wine, and sake are served. Diners here sit at communal tables, making this a good bet for people traveling alone. It's also a lively and entertaining experience for kids. Even with five teppan rooms the restaurant is often filled to capacity, so be sure to make Advance Reservations if you plan on dining here for dinner. Note: At press time the popular restaurant was undergoing extensive renovations.
