Baseball Returns to Washington -- As of 2005, Washington, D.C., has its own Major League Baseball team again, for the first time since 1971. For the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, the Washington Nationals played at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, 2400 E. Capitol St. SE (tel. 202/547-9077). If all goes as planned, the Nationals will find themselves playing the field in their newly built Nationals Ballpark, come opening day April 2008. Located in southeast Washington, the 41,000-seat stadium is bounded by South Capitol Street, N Street, First Street, and Potomac Avenue. For tickets, go to the website, www.mlb.com, and click on "Nationals" in the list of MLB (Major League Baseball) sites; prices are reasonable: $7 to $55. Meanwhile, the 55,000-seat RFK remains the location for D.C. United (men's) and Washington Freedom (women's) soccer games, at least until these teams get their own stadium, which is slated for 2009.
