Frommer's Review
Does D.C. really need another steakhouse? The arrival of BLT Steak in late 2006 has convinced us that, yes, we do. The BLT stands not for bacon, lettuce, and tomato, but for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, the chef, whose other BLTs are located in New York City and San Juan. The capital's BLT lies on a street between the White House and the K Street corridor of law firm and lobbyist offices, and attracts a steady stream of power brokers. The restaurant, with its expansive bar, suede seats, large and airy room, and soul-music sound system (no Frank Sinatra here) is also a popular stomping ground for young professionals on weeknights. A meal begins with a basket of enormous, complimentary Gruyère popovers and a little pot of country pâté. Menu recommendations include the raw bar offerings, hanger steak, the American wagyu rib-eye (if you don't mind paying $92 for your entree!), blue cheese Tater Tots, onion rings, any of the salads, and the souffléd crepe with ricotta cheese for dessert.
