Dupont Circle Courtyard Review

Across Connecticut Avenue from the enormous Washington Hilton is this much smaller property that, like the Hilton, sits on an incline, so overlooks the city from certain rooms. Its interior has a European feel and a well-heeled appearance. Crystal chandeliers hang in the lobby and in the restaurant, and you may hear an Irish lilt from time to time (the hotel is one of three in Washington owned by the Doyle Collection Group, an Irish hotelier company). Guests tend to linger in the comfortable lounge off the lobby, where coffee is available all day.

Guest rooms present a comfortable and bright decor that includes cherry furniture and plush carpeting. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, but those facing Connecticut Avenue on the sixth to ninth floors present wide-sweeping views of the city, some with views of the Washington Monument, in the distance. Especially nice are the 15 executive rooms, which are a little larger and have marble bathrooms. The entire property is nonsmoking.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; small exercise room; outdoor pool (seasonal); room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
