Hilton Garden Inn, Washington, D.C. Downtown Review

This hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Metro's Blue and Orange Lines' McPherson Square station, within a short walk of the White House. Rooms are spacious with either king-size or double beds; a dial on the side of the mattress allows guests to adjust its firmness. Other features include a cushiony chair with an ottoman and a large desk with an ergonomic chair and adjustable lighting. Guests can connect a personal laptop or MP3 player to the room's flatscreen LCD HDTV. Best for space and views are rooms facing 14th Street, at the front of the hotel. The hotel's 24-hour pantry sells essentials; the 24-hour business center allows free use of computer, faxing, and copying services. All but 14th-floor guest rooms are smoke-free. Each of the hotel's 20 suites holds a small pullout sofa in the living room. Recent renovations updated the fitness center with new Precor fitness equipment, free weights, and a weight center.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; 24-hr. fitness center w/indoor pool; room service

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
