Frommer's Review
A recent sprucing up refreshed decor throughout the hotel, but you can still expect to see eye-popping patterns and bright colors. Guest rooms have a minimalist feel; the platform bed is placed behind sheer drapes in an alcove (in the king deluxe rooms), leaving the two-person settee, a triangular desk, and the flatscreen TV out in the open. Roomiest are the 18 suites, each with a separate bedroom and slate-blue sectional sofas in the living room. Specialty rooms include "Eats" rooms, which have Italian cafe tables, bar stools, and a fully equipped kitchenette; kid-friendly "Bunk" rooms that have a separate bunk bed area with TV/DVD player combo; a "Flex" room that has a StairStepper; and "Zone" rooms equipped with a plasma-screen TV, high-tech stereo system, lava lamp, and lounge chair. The Helix Lounge is popular with locals, especially from May to October, when its outdoor patio is open.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
