Frommer's Review
Business is booming in Washington and this hotel is booming along with it, thanks to its clever location a short walk from both the convention center and the heart of the Penn Quarter. Since its debut in late 2005, the hotel has often been sold out -- with families during extended school breaks, and with conventioneers at other times. Like all Embassy Suites, this one provides a winning formula in its lodging layout. Every suite offers a separate living room and bedroom, with a bathroom serving as the divider. Decor is fresh and upbeat, employing light woods, earth tones, and glass accents. Each living room has a pullout sofa. Common areas in the hotel are also attractive, from the glass- and wood-paneled, six-floor atrium, to the popular Finn & Porter restaurant, in whose sunroom a stunning complimentary breakfast (waffles to custom-ordered omelets) is served daily. The hotel hosts a nightly, complimentary cocktail reception in the two-level bar at the other end of the atrium from the restaurant. While many hotels squirrel away their fitness centers on subterranean levels, this hotel's exercise room and pool are on the second floor, where wide windows overlook D.C.'s downtown. The business center offers free use of a printer and three computers, including complimentary Internet access.
Facilities: Restaurant (steak, sushi, and seafood); bar; indoor pool; whirlpool; fitness center; concierge; 24-hr. business center w/free use of computers and Internet access; gift shop; room service (at lunch and dinner); coin-op laundry; same-day laundry and dry cleaning; 12 rooms for those w/limited mobility, all w/roll-in showers.
