Frommer's Review
This is top-level Shakespeare, with superb acting. Try your best to get tickets; the productions are reliably outstanding. Season subscriptions claim many of the seats, and the plays almost always sell out; so if you're interested in attending a play here, buy your tickets now. The Shakespeare Theatre Company's productions at the Lansburgh Theatre have long been so popular that the production company has opened a second theater, the Sidney Harman Hall, at 650 F St. NW, across the street from the Verizon Center and just around the corner from the Lansburgh on 7th St. NW. The 2007-08 season will see the Lansburgh stage three plays in its 451-seat theater and Harman Hall present five plays in its 776-seat theater; with eight productions, 1,227 seats, and two locations, Bard lovers should have a greater chance of scoring tickets. Among the classical ensemble company's 2007-08 season promised presentations are The Taming of the Shrew, Antony and Cleopatra, and Julius Caesar, as well as two plays by Christopher Marlowe, Tamburlaine and Edward II. As always, the company is staging its annual, free-admission, 2-week run of a Shakespeare production at the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Rock Creek Park.
