Frommer's Review
This beloved Adams-Morgan hangout fulfills owner Bill Duggan's definition of a good bar: great sounds and sweaty people. The great sounds feature live music nightly: a funk/jazz/blues group on Sunday and Monday; Delta bluesman Ben Andrews on Tuesday; bluegrass with Bob Perilla & the Big Hillbilly Bluegrass Band on Wednesday; and the salsa sounds of Patrick Alban or Johnny Artis on Thursday, which is also Ladies' Night. On Friday and Saturday nights, regional blues groups pack the place -- hope for Bobby Parker or Cathy Ponton King. The club includes a wide-open bar decorated eclectically with an antique gilded mirror, stuffed fish and animal heads, and paintings of nudes. The second-floor bar is called Big Daddy's Love Lounge & Pick-Up Joint, which tells you everything you need to know. Keep climbing the stairs to the rooftop deck, which is now open all year; you can't hear the music up there, but you'll discover an awesome view. Other notes: You can play darts here, and redheads pay half-price for drinks. Food is served, but I'd eat elsewhere.
