Frommer's Review
On the same street as The Red & The Black, above, the R&R opened first, attracting devoted music lovers and night crawlers to come shoot pool in its second-floor pool hall, listen to live bands in its 400-person concert hall, or toss back shots in its bar. Washingtonians are loving the punk rock decor of vintage furniture and flying guitars, but most especially the nightly acts, which range from local garage bands to national groups on tour. FYI: "Hotel" is just part of the name, no sleeping here. Drive here or take a taxi. Friday and Saturday nights, 10pm to 2:30am, the H Street bars offer free transportation, via the Atlas Courtesy Shuttle (tel. 202/906-0697), to Union Station, where you can catch the Metro.
