Whistler literally overflows with dining choices: Whistler Village alone has over 90 restaurants. You'll have no trouble finding high quality, reasonably priced food. Gourmets on the go can grab a quick, fresh, and delicious bite at Ciao Thyme Bistro & BBKs Pub, 4573 Chateau Blvd. (tel. 604/932-7051; www.chefbernards.ca/restaurant), open daily from 7am to 9pm. Ingrid's Village Café, just off the Village Square at 4305 Skiers Approach (tel. 604/932-7000), is another locals' favorite, for both quality and price. A large bowl of Ingrid's clam chowder costs just C$4.50 (US$3.60), while a veggie burger comes in at C$5 (US$4). It's open daily 8am to 6pm. Thai One On, 4557 Blackcomb Way, in the Le Chamois Hotel (tel. 604/932-4822), is Whistler's top Thai restaurant, with house specialties like Naim Prik Pla Talay from C$11 to C$18 (US$8.80-US$6.40); open daily from 5pm to 10pm. The Whistler Brewhouse, 4355 Blackcomb Way (tel. 604/905-2739), is a great spot for a microbrewed ale, a plate of wood-fired pizza, or rotisserie chicken (C$15-C$23/US$12-US$18), and a seat on the patio. Open daily 11:30am to midnight, till 1am on weekends. Sachi Sushi, 4359 Main St. (tel. 604/935-5649), is the best of Whistler's many sushi restaurants -- the udon noodles and hot pots are excellent as well; sushi rolls from C$8 to C$17 (US$6.40-US$14). Open Tuesday to Friday noon to 2:30pm and nightly 5:30 to 10pm. And for a hearty Italian meal, try Trattoria di Umberto, 4417 Sundial Place (tel. 604/932-5858; www.umberto.com).
Après-Ski -- "Après-ski" refers to that delicious hour after a hard day on the slopes, when you sit back with a cold drink, nurse the sore spots, and savor the glow that comes from a day well skied. On the Blackcomb side, Merlin's Bar, at the base (tel. 604/938-7735), is the most obvious spot, but hidden away inside the Chateau Whistler Resort is something better: the Mallard Bar (tel. 604/938-8000), one of the most civilized après-ski bars on the planet.
