Backcountry SkiingThe Spearhead Traverse, which starts at Whistler and finishes at Blackcomb, is a well-marked backcountry route that has become extremely popular. Garibaldi Provincial Park (tel. 604/898-3678) maintains marked backcountry trails at Diamond Head, Singing Pass, and Cheakamus Lake. These are ungroomed and unpatrolled trails, and you have to be self-reliant -- you should be at least an intermediate skier, bring appropriate clothing and avalanche gear, and know how to use it. There are several access points along Highway 99 between Squamish and Whistler. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.
