Frequently awarded for its wine list, and voted best restaurant in Whistler, this is one of the top places to dine. And, thanks to a major renovation, Araxi now has storage enough for its famous 12,000-bottle inventory of fine B.C. and foreign wines. Outside, the heated patio seats 80 people amid barrels of flowers, while inside, the artwork, antiques, and terra-cotta tiles give it a subtle Italian ambience. The menu, however, is less Italian and more West Coast. The locally caught trout is smoked in the Araxi kitchen. Various soups and salads are made from scratch with fresh ingredients like Pemberton sheep cheese and Okanagan tomatoes. Main courses include seafood such as ahi tuna, salmon filet, and scallops. For meat lovers, the menu offers rack of lamb, tenderloin, and alder-smoked pork loin. And don't hesitate to ask for a suggestion when contemplating the nearly encyclopedic wine list.
