Whistler has its share of grand hotels, but, even in this exalted company, the Four Seasons Resort stands alone. Easily the most refined and elegant of Whistler's hotels, the Four Seasons is monumental in scale while maintaining the atmosphere of a very intimate and sophisticated boutique hotel -- a rare achievement. The expansive stone, glass, and timber lobby is like a modern-day hunting lodge -- but with the addition of extraordinary contemporary art -- while the fine-dining Fifty Two 80 Bistro & Bar has a pleasing, slightly playful decor of stone, candy-colored tile, and back-lit onyx. The Four Seasons' urbane good taste extends to the large guest rooms, decorated in wood and cool earth tones and beautifully furnished with rich fabrics and leather furniture. All rooms have a balcony, fireplace, and very large, amenity-filled bathrooms with soaker tubs. The standard room is a very spacious 46 sq. m (500 sq. ft.), and superior and deluxe level rooms are truly large. A separate wing of the hotel contains private residences: 139- to 344-sq.-m (1,500- to 3,700-sq.-ft.) apartments with two to four bedrooms. With 15 treatment rooms, the exquisite spa at the Four Seasons Resort is Whistler's largest, and a heated outdoor pool and three whirlpool baths fill half of the hotel courtyard. The Four Seasons Resort Whistler is a très chic, très elegant monument to refinement.
