Frommer's Review
One of the most popular places to eat in Whitehorse, this fast-paced restaurant looks a bit worn from the outside -- no wonder, as it's in one of the city's oldest remaining buildings (a bakery from 1900) -- but there's nothing old-fashioned about the quality or execution of the food served. Both ribs and chicken are smoked in house and are outstanding, and even standards like beef tenderloin get updated with apricot mustard glaze and fresh pineapple salsa. Fresh wild local salmon is also excellent, as is arctic char and halibut. It wouldn't be northern food without game, and diners should consider wild stroganoff, with bison, caribou, and other wild meats in mushroom and brandy sauce. Even the burgers go northern -- would you like fries with your caribou or musk ox burgers? The dining room is delightfully atmospheric, but the real action is on the two small outdoor heated decks that flank the dining room.
