Frommer's Review
Cozy and romantic, La Gourmandise doesn't pretend to have a gold-rush past, and that's a good thing if you're weary of the huge servings of meat and potatoes typical of the North. Low key but sophisticated, La Gourmandise is like a venerable country inn in Quebec, with low-ceilings, dark wood beams, and two fireplaces. The food is likewise stylish and welcoming. Crepes (both savory and sweet) are the house specialty though there's plenty else to choose from. Lunch-time soup, salad, and sandwiches give way at dinner to hearty dishes such as Québec salmon pie, stuffed chicken breast with wine and red currant sauce, and filet mignon with wild mushrooms and goat cheese. Fresh local fish and seafood is also a specialty -- there's a choice of four preparations for mussels.
